SureSweep Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 22, 2026
SureSweep is built to work on your device. There's no SureSweep server.
What we collect: Nothing. SureSweep doesn't collect or send us any personal data, photos, or usage information. There's no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking.
Your photos: SureSweep reads your photo library only to show you your photos and find similar ones. All analysis happens on your iPhone. Your photos are never uploaded or shared. Photos are deleted only when you confirm, and iOS keeps them in Recently Deleted for 30 days.
Your contacts (optional): If you open the Contacts tab and allow access, SureSweep reads your contacts' names, companies, phone numbers, email addresses, addresses and photos to find people saved more than once and contacts with no phone number or email. All of this happens on your iPhone; your contacts are never uploaded or shared. SureSweep changes a contact only when you confirm a merge or deletion. Contact backups (the ones you make, and the one SureSweep makes automatically right before any merge or deletion) are saved as files inside SureSweep on your iPhone. They're included in your iPhone's own backup, never uploaded by SureSweep, and deleted if you delete the app or the backup. You can export a backup to a place you choose. Restoring adds back contacts from a backup that aren't on your iPhone.
Hiding photos: If you choose Hide in Photos, SureSweep asks iOS to move that photo to the Hidden album in the Photos app. Nothing is copied or uploaded.
Optional email cleaner (Gmail), coming in a future version: The email cleaner isn't in the current version of SureSweep. When it's available, and only if you connect your Gmail account in the Email tab:
- You sign in on Google's own page; SureSweep never sees your
password. SureSweep asks for permission to read and organize your Gmail
(
gmail.modify), which it uses only to show counts per category, list senders and subjects, and move emails you choose to Gmail's Trash. It never reads what your emails say, never sends email, and never permanently deletes anything. Gmail keeps trashed emails for 30 days. - Your iPhone talks directly to Gmail. Nothing passes through us, and we never receive your emails, their details or your sign-in.
- Your Gmail address is remembered on your iPhone to show which account is connected. Your sign-in token is stored in your iPhone's Keychain, only on this device. Disconnecting deletes both and asks Google to end the session.
- When you tap Unsubscribe for a sender that supports one-click unsubscribe, SureSweep sends a single standard unsubscribe request from your iPhone to that sender's unsubscribe address. Otherwise SureSweep opens the sender's own unsubscribe page or a prepared email for you to send.
- SureSweep's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The data is used only to provide the email cleaner on your device; it is never transferred to us or anyone else, used for ads, or read by people.
Optional cloud backup check, coming in a future version: This isn't in the current version of SureSweep. When it's available, you can choose to connect your own Dropbox or OneDrive account so SureSweep can confirm which photos are already backed up there. If you do:
- You sign in on the service's own page and SureSweep never sees your
password. It asks only for read-only permission:
files.metadata.readfor Dropbox, andFiles.Read(plusoffline_access, so you stay signed in) for OneDrive. - Your iPhone talks directly to that service. Nothing passes through us, and we never receive your files, file list or sign-in.
- SureSweep reads the names, sizes and fingerprints of files in the folder you choose, and compares them on your iPhone with your photos. It never uploads, downloads, changes or deletes anything in your cloud.
- Your sign-in token is stored in your iPhone's Keychain, only on this device. Disconnecting deletes it. For Dropbox, SureSweep also asks Dropbox to end the session. Microsoft doesn't offer apps a way to do that for OneDrive, so you can also remove SureSweep's access in your Microsoft account settings.
- If you never connect a service, SureSweep makes no network connections for this feature.
The service's own privacy policy applies to your Dropbox or Microsoft account.
Storage information: SureSweep reads how much space your iPhone has free, to show it to you and to check there's room before making a smaller video copy. It never leaves your device.
Shrinking videos: Smaller copies are made and saved on your iPhone, in your photo library. Nothing is uploaded.
Archiving to a drive: If you choose a folder (for example on a USB drive or a computer you connect to in the Files app), SureSweep copies the photos and videos you pick into it. It only writes to the folder you choose (inside a "SureSweep Archive" folder it creates there), and only when you start a copy. It remembers that folder for next time, on your device.
App storage guide: To show steps for the apps you actually have, SureSweep asks iOS whether a short list of apps is installed (WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, TikTok, YouTube, Netflix, Spotify). iOS answers only yes or no for those apps; SureSweep can't see any other apps, their files or how much space they use. The answer stays on your device. While you follow the steps, SureSweep compares your iPhone's free space before and after, on the device.
Widgets: If you add a SureSweep widget, it shows your iPhone's free space and the latest totals the app found. The app shares those totals with the widget through storage on your iPhone. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Reminders: If you turn on a reminder, it's scheduled on your iPhone with iOS's local notifications. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Purchases: Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. We don't receive your payment details.
Settings stored on your device: The app keeps a few counters and settings on your device, such as your daily free swipes, the total space you've freed, what you recently sent to Recently Deleted, your similar-photo strictness, the cloud folder and archive folder you chose, your Keep List (the photos you chose to keep, saved as photo IDs), and a cache of file sizes and scan results (which photos look alike, for example) so the app doesn't have to scan again every time. They never leave your device and are removed when you delete the app.
Children: SureSweep doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes: If this policy changes, we'll update the date above.
